The long read
The entry features a totem-style dumpbin with 3D elements, designed to promote Kinder's Halloween-themed products. The dumpbin’s standout feature is its fun, monster-inspired design that enhances the display’s impact while maintaining the Kinder brand's character focus.
This display was created to provide a Halloween-specific experience while also achieving cost-effectiveness and ease of assembly. The totem-style design maximizes the display's height, featuring bold graphics and 3D monster elements that attract attention. By using a single printed sheet, the design incorporates a full-bodied monster with arms, complete with a convex head and push-down panel to create a ‘top shelf’ for products. The mouth, cut out to add depth, draws attention to the product, while pre-attached arms minimize assembly time and damage during shipping.
The display was designed to stand out in convenience stores and independent retailers, particularly in the impulse channel. It aimed to capitalize on the Halloween season with a character-driven design that made the display both playful and functional. Retailer feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with comments highlighting the display's ability to draw attention, create excitement, and integrate seamlessly into Halloween-themed store layouts.
The display achieved strong sales results, with Halloween Choco-bons seeing a 144% uplift. At 1500mm tall, the display effectively disrupted impulse shoppers and enhanced product visibility, while its compact packaging and rapid assembly made it cost-effective and efficient for retail environments.
